The Under 18's (Sponsored by Steve Brettle Fabrications Ltd) played their last ever competitive game away at Redcar Athletic, and although beaten 6 - 1, the team played the game with the enthusiasm and will to compete that has been thier hallmark throughout all the seasons they have been together.
 
Very few chances fell to Coulby in a first half dominated by Redcar, and but for some outstanding saves by Matty Bailey, Coulby could have ended the half far worse than the 1 - 0 scoreline.
 
Coulby pressed in the second half but their opponents were just too strong, scoring 5 goals in a 20 minute spell.
 
However, towards the end of the game, Coulby began to exert some pressure on the Redcar backline and a great run into the box by Luke Smailes, saw him fouled and the referee had no hesitation pointing to the spot.
 
Charley Hutchinson, the only outfield player not to score this season was handed the ball, and although it placed it down and confidently stepped back, his kick wasn't and was easily collected by the keeper.  But Coulby were to ensure they scored when a corner kick from Luke Smailes was met by Ben Pearson and teh ball ended up in the net.  No-one, including Ben could say which aprt of his body it hit, but a goals a goal!
 
Soon after, the referee brought the curtain down on the team's 11th season together.
 
A huge thank you to Dave Bennison for his support over the years and to all the parents who have come in rain, snow, hail and shine to cheer the lads on, no matter where we played or how we played.  Without them, I wouldn't be able to run this team.
 
Last and not least, I must thank each and every lad that has played for this team over the years I have been the manager, it has been an absolute pleasure to get to know each and every one of them, and I'm honoured to have watched and hopefully helped them to grow from young boys into men.
